Business Servers
in Coventry and the West Midlands

The right setup for your business, and the team to keep it running.

Overview

Where a server still makes sense

A few years ago, the question for most businesses was whether to have a server at all. These days, the answer is more open. Plenty of small teams run happily on Microsoft 365 and a handful of cloud services, with no server in the building, and that's often the right call.

For other businesses, a server still earns its place. It might be a piece of line-of-business software that runs better when everything's on-site, or the volume of data being moved around an office where a local server is faster than pulling files from the cloud. For some, it's just simpler to keep accounts and shared drives in one place where you can see them.

Whether the right answer for you is a server in the office, a hosted one in a data centre, or some mix of the two, we'll help businesses across Coventry and the West Midlands decide. Once that's clear, we get the kit in, set it up, and we're the team you call when something needs attention afterwards.

Your options

Three ways a server can be set up

There's more than one way to run a server these days, and the right answer depends on the business. Here's a quick read on the three main options and where each one tends to fit.

On-premise servers

On-premise

A physical server in your building, sitting in a server room, cabinet, or comms cupboard. You own the hardware, the data lives on your site, and the kit is yours to upgrade or replace when the time comes. It tends to suit businesses moving large amounts of data around the office, or anyone running software that prefers a local server with everything in one place.

Hosted

A virtual server running in a data centre, usually on Microsoft Azure or a similar platform. There's no hardware in your building. You pay a monthly fee instead of buying outright, and the data centre takes care of the resilience and the power. It tends to suit businesses with smaller premises or hybrid teams, where there's not the appetite for kit in the building.

Hybrid

A mix of the two. Some workloads stay on a local server because they're faster or simpler that way. Others sit in the cloud because that's where they belong. This suits businesses with specific software or data that needs to be local, but who still want the flexibility of hosted services for the rest. It's how a lot of established small businesses are set up these days.

What we do

From sizing the right setup to handing it over

Once we know which direction makes sense, the work breaks into three parts.

"Since we started business in 2012, PS4B have been with us. From just me and my laptop, to now supporting multiple users across 3 sites, the service level has always been excellent. A reliable, competitive and trustworthy IT supply partner!" Adam B.

Ongoing support

After we hand it over

Most of our server clients are on a maintenance agreement, which is how we keep the relationship going past the install. The agreement covers most of what comes up. Quick jobs we deal with remotely; bigger ones we come on-site for. There's also a phone line you can ring if you'd rather talk to a person than fill in a ticket.

In the background, we're keeping an eye on the server for you. Patches go on as they're released. We monitor the hardware for early signs of trouble too, so a drive heading for failure usually gets replaced before you've noticed. When the warranty side of things needs invoking, we deal with HPE on your behalf rather than handing you a support reference and a phone number.

The same engineers who built your server are the ones supporting it, which means there's no one having to learn your setup before they can help.
