Infrastructure & Setup
Network Design
in Coventry & the West Midlands
Designed properly from the start, supported properly afterwards.
Overview
A network that's planned around how your business actually runs
When a network's been put together properly, you don't really notice it's there. Files open quickly, video calls stay connected, the Wi-Fi works everywhere it needs to, and your team can get on with the day without thinking about the kit underneath. When it hasn't been planned properly, the opposite happens. The systems run slow, things drop out, the team gets frustrated, and far too much time gets spent on problems that shouldn't be there in the first place.
We design and build networks for small and medium sized businesses across Coventry and the West Midlands. Whether you've outgrown what you've got, are moving premises, opening another site, or starting from scratch. Every setup is built around how your business actually runs day to day, and where you're heading over the next few years.
What's Included
What our network design covers
Every network we design is shaped around the business it's for, but the work itself usually breaks down into four areas. The scale and the detail change from one project to the next, but these are the parts we always come back to.
Wired and wireless infrastructure
This covers the physical layer: cabling, switches, access points, and the layout of where it all sits in the building. We carry out site surveys to plan Wi-Fi coverage properly rather than guessing, so you don't end up with dead zones in meeting rooms or warehouses. The cabling work is planned to last, with capacity to add to it later without pulling things apart again.
Switching, routing and segmentation
This is the kit that moves traffic around your network and decides what talks to what. We use VLANs and proper segmentation so that guest Wi-Fi, voice traffic, payment systems, and your main business data each run on their own logical paths. That improves both performance and security. We document the configuration and hand it over, so it isn't a black box afterwards.
Connectivity and remote access
Connectivity covers the links that bring the outside world in: business broadband or leased lines, multi-site connections, and secure remote access for staff working from home or on the road. We design the connectivity around what your applications actually need, including any cloud services you rely on, and build in the headroom for growth.
Security and resilience
This covers firewalls, intrusion prevention, and the redundancy that keeps you running when something fails. We design for the failures that are most likely to hit a business like yours, things like a dropped broadband line, a failed switch, or a power blip, so a single fault doesn't take the whole office offline.
Our Approach
How a network project usually runs
Most of our projects start with a conversation and a site visit. We want to understand how your business runs, what's working, what's frustrating, and what you're planning for the next few years. For wireless or cabling work, we'll do a proper site survey too, because designing off a floor plan alone rarely ends well.
From there we put together a design and a written proposal. Where there's more than one sensible way to do something, like a leased line against business broadband, we'll lay out the trade-offs rather than make the decision for you.
We plan the install around your business hours. For most clients that means evening or weekend work, with someone on hand the next morning if anything needs tidying up.
Why pick us?
We design what we'd be happy to support
Most of the networks we design end up on our support contracts afterwards, and that changes how we think about the design from the start. There's no upside for us in selling kit you don't need, or in choosing something flashy that's awkward to look after. We'll be the ones picking up the phone when it plays up. So we size the network around what your business actually needs now, with sensible room for growth, and we pick equipment we know how to support properly.
It also means the network we put in today is one we'll still understand in five years' time. We document everything we put in, and any changes we make further down the line get added to the same records. The kit stays consistent across the network too, which means a fault we haven't seen before is rare. Nothing about it should be a black box, including for whoever picks it up after us.
